After an early shopping day, my friend and I decided to look on Yelp for a place to eat lunch. Around Honolulu, a place called “Scratch Kitchen & Bake Shop” appeared with high ratings. As I was looking through the pictures that others shared on Yelp, I saw the ‘cereal pancake’, which I HAD to try! We then decided that this would be our destination.

Water in mason jars? This is already a thumbs up in my book!, At home, we drink from glass jars…and we did this before it was cool! I like a restaurant that serves water in mason jars, the quantity it provides is far better than average cups. I’m easily amused haha!

“Milk & Cereal” Pancakes  frosted flakes pancakes, “milk” syrup, seasonal berries, sliced banana

This was the initial food item that brought me to sample this restaurant. If you like frosted flakes and pancakes, this breakfast is for you! A Delicious twist to pancakes with a light condensed milk as the syrup. I can’t wait to go back and enjoy this again!

BC Burger kulana ground beef, crispy bacon, melted brie, griddled apple, honey aioli, brioche, crispy smashed taters

Look at this presentation! BC Burger was served on a cutting board with a knife to hold the burger together. The food was as great as it looked. Anything with brie and honey aioli is very yummy indeed! I also like how they served the taters: large and tasty. Everything was incredibly scrumptious!

Scratch Kitchen and Bake “Simple. Rustic. Approachable.” is the saying on the website – they are that and more. It has the feel of an upscale, artsy kind of restaurant. Modern, unique, and cleverly decorated. Seating and service were quick with a smile. Although it was a small place, their food was rich and savory. I took the burger home as I had left overs and Reid really liked the burger as well! If you are ever around Honolulu / China town, definitely stop by for brunch, you will not regret it!

Since this place was a hidden gem in downtown, it has limited street parking. There was only metered street parking or parking lots where you have to pay. I suggest going during the hours where it’s not too busy around town.
