The biggest, most necessary part of traveling anywhere in the world? Knowing where to eat. Here are five ways to help you figure out where to go and how to get there.
Before you go to any location throughout the world, have some due diligence and research what locales will be around the area. It’s always best to know what places you may want visit. If you’re one of those “plan as you go” travelers, you can still gauge what to eat with a simple google search from any internet cafe. (Worst case scenario? ask the locals!)
If limited data is an issue then this next trick will help you conserve that precious information stream. While in your home country, download the Yelp app. This is one of our favorite apps to use while at our hometown or traveling. We do this before we depart and research (like number one) around the location we will be staying. This would be the biggest assistance in traveling and locating new eateries, however, it is understandable that not all countries have Yelp services.
Read our blog! Nah, but seriously…locations we do visit are results of us researching other genuine blog reviews. It’s sheer, raw opinions of others and tells you how it is. It is usually very beneficial and accurate information. With different opinions of the same restaurant, it can really be a driving force of where we do or do not go with precise reasons why we should or shouldn’t.
Twitter, Instagram, and even Pinterest are great browsing tools of what areas to avoid or explore. Of course, there will be amazing pictures of food that are very appealing. We like to browse: “best restaurants in _____”, wherever we go!
Now, all of the above unfortunately requires you to use internet/computers/technology but if all else fails, ask the people who know best: the locals! No matter how much research you put into investigating the best foods, you’ll never know like those who live, breath, and eat the host countries food.
