HOW TO GET FROM BALI TO NUSA PENIDA

From Bali, you will need to take a boat to Nusa Penida which will take around 45 minutes. From the harbor, it takes about 30 minutes to get to Kelingking Beach. There are different ways to book a tour to visit Nusa Penida:

Whether you’re staying at an Airbnb or hotel, they can arrange the transportation for a small additional fee. We stayed at an Airbnb and they arranged a driver to pick us up from our hotel in Bali to Sanur Beach Harbour, a fast boat to Nusa Penida and a private driver to take us to the Airbnb. ONLINE OR IN-PERSON: This is the most affordable route – If you do not need a tour guide, you can book the fast boat at Sanur Beach Harbour online or in-person for less than $10usd per person.

Tip: The boat ride is fast and bumpy. If you easily get motion sickness, take some Dramamine or something similar. Also, to board the boat, you will need to walk on the beach and get your feet wet, make sure to wear slippers.

HOW TO GET TO KELINGKING BEACH

Once you are on the island of Nusa Penida, there are a few ways to get to Kelingking Beach. Here are a few options:

MOST AFFORDABLE WAY: Rent a moped to get to Kelingking Beach for as low as $7 USD (98,791 IDR) for the day. It will take about 30 minutes from the harbor. If you are taking this route, make sure you have an international driving license to drive a moped. Also, be very cautious as it’s a bumpy ride in some areas on the island!

BOOK A TOUR: Book a day tour with a driver/tour guide to take you to Kelingking Beach and other amazing spots on the island. During our stay in Nusa Penida, we hired a private tour guide for a few days. With your own tour guide, you can request to stop at Kelingking first thing in the morning before the crowd! It usually gets crowded starting at 10 am.

HOW MUCH DOES KELINGKING BEACH COST? (PARKING AND ENTRANCE FEE)

If you book a day tour that includes a visit to Kelingking Beach, the entrance fee is included! If you are visiting on your own, the entrance fee is $0.71 USD (10,000 IDR) per person and $0.35 USD (5,000 IDR) for parking your moped.

Tip: Be sure to bring Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) cash since most places in Nusa Penida only accept cash.

WHAT TO DO AT KELINGKING BEACH (VIEWPOINT AND BEACH)

VIEWPOINT: Most visitors come to see Kelingking Beach from the viewpoint. There are multiple areas to view the stunning cliff and turquoise waters such as the stairs leading down to the shore, spine of the T-Rex, and along the ridge.

HIKE TO THE BEACH: You can also hike down to the beach. The hike takes about an hour one-way. It’s a super steep hike with ropes and sticks on the path down. There are no lifeguards at the beach, be cautious of the waves and strong currents. Also, stay hydrated and have enough water to hike back up!

WARUNGS: Whether you’re visiting the viewpoint or hiking, plan to stop at one of the warungs (restaurants) and have a mie goreng or nasi goreng!
