After spending four days in Santorini, we know we will be returning, in the near future. Greece has a lot to offer and can take a few weeks to explore other islands along with incredible history! While we did a lot during our stay, there are much more places to see and learn! Here’s what our full four days looked like and hope this guide can help you with your next trip to Santorini.

Flights

We flew from Paris, France (ORY) to Santorini, Greece (JTR) via Transavia France. The flight is 3 hours and 35 minutes which felt like a really long flight since we were so excited to be in Greece!

Travel Tips

  • Weather: We visited during May, and the weather was ideal. It was in the high 60s at night and low 70s during the day. The best weather is from April to June and September to November, respectively.
  • Money: Almost every major business accepts credit card services. If you happen to have no cash Euro on hand, it’s safe to use a credit card. Be sure to call your bank and let them know you’ll be using it internationally and be aware of any foreign transaction fees you can avoid.
  • Transportation: To get the best of Santorini sights and sounds, it’s best to rent a car or a four wheel drive vehicle (such as an ATV or scooter). We rented a car for the day to explore the entire island of Santorini. It was a great way to sightsee with no interruptions of time frames or tours!  Important Tip: If you decide to drive a car in Santorini, make sure to have your international drivers license if you’re coming from the United States – there are a few services to get an international license but HERE is one.
  • Reservations: When we stayed at one hotel while in Santorini. They were very helpful in making restaurant reservations for us at any place of our choice. They also will make reservations for transportation, spa, and other activities.

Explore Oia

After checking-in and settling in our hotel, we headed straight to Amoudi Bay. Amoudi Bay is located on the cliff side of Oia, perfect view for sunset while you eat at one of the restaurants. You can either walk down or ride a donkey which only cost a few euros; You’ll need at least a day to explore Oia alone.

Oia is full of restaurants, shops, and spa activities. We decided to do the fish spa in Oia!

Set aside a whole day driving around the island of Santorini. We left right after breakfast and came back around 5:00 pm to return our rental car – WELL WORTH IT!

DAY 4

Explore the City of Fira

Fira is the capital city of Santorini – full of shopping, hotels, restaurants, and activities. This is the place to be when it comes to shopping for that perfect souvenir to bring home. We also took the cable car down to the docks of Fira. You’re able to use the cable car or ride the donkey. Spending half the day exploring Fira made me wish we had more time to explore before our shuttle picked us up which is why it’s great to have your own vehicle on trips!

End the Last Night in Oia

Our last night was mediocre compared to the entire trip of Santorini. We ended up having a home cooked meal at our hotel and watching the beautiful sunset! Four days spent in Oia was the perfect amount of time. We did everything on our itinerary and so much more. We can’t wait to go back to Greece and visit the other islands! We hope you enjoyed this Travel Guide + Itinerary and use it for your trip to Santorini.
