You absolutely cannot leave Hawaii without having a local shave ice! Hawaii is known for the best tropical flavors such as lilikoi, guava, taro, coconut, etc. and unique toppings such as mochi, red beans, condensed milk, and so much more!
Ps. Shave Ice is NOT the same as snow cones.
1. ISLAND VINTAGE
This is my favorite go-to shave ice in Waikiki because of the fresh flavors! For example, their lilikoi (passion fruit) flavor has lilikoi seeds making it straight from the fruit itself. Also, I love their home-made mochi topping.

2. UNCLE CLAY’S HOUSE OF PURE ALOHA
Uncle Clay’s offers different treats but they are known for their shave ice and unique flavors such as pina colada, mac nut, and others. Also, they have ice cream as toppings from flavors like tahitian vanilla ice cream, ulu ice cream, and so much more!

3. ICE MONSTER
Ice Monster is a very popular shave ice spot in Taiwan and it is now in Hawaii! The texture is definitely different from an original shaved ice. Ice Monster offers more finely shaved and fluffy shave ice!

4. THE LOCAL HAWAII
While they are currently on hiatus right now, they are still a great place for shave ice! I love their local syrup names and flavors! Definitely check them out on instagram for updates on when they have their location up again!

5. MATSUMOTO SHAVE ICE
The original spot for shave ice. This place is located in Haleiwa and is a very famous place. To this day, you’ll find Matsumoto Shave Ice with lines outside their shop on busy days. After having a plate of garlic shrimp on the North Shore, be sure to get your sweet tooth fix here!
