Summer has arrived! As you thaw out of winter and spring mode and get into the swing summer, there are a few things you can’t forget to bring to the beach:

1. REEF SAFE SUNSCREEN

Did you know that Hawaii has a sunscreen law banning harmful sunscreen (by 2021). After decades of gross negligence by companies and competent University of Hawaii research, it has been found that “two chemicals contained in many sunscreens, oxybenzone and octinoxate, have significant harmful impacts on Hawaii’s marine environment and residing ecosystems, including coral reefs that protect Hawaii’s shoreline.” When looking for a new sunscreen, for the betterment of the environment and future generations, decide on eco-friendly/reef-safe sunscreen.

Fun fact: Key West, Florida is the second location to ban sunscreens containing oxybenzone and octinoxate.

2. SAND-FREE TOWEL

As Anakin Skywalker poetically said “I don’t like sand. It’s coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere.”, sand can be a nuance.
