Our first trip to Canada started off with a wonderful stay at the conveniently located, Opus Hotel Vancouver. It is only a 30 Meters/100 Feet walk from the train station or a quick 30-minute drive from the Vancouver International Airport (YVR). A booking here is a must if you need a reasonable and easily accessible stay in the Vancouver area.
If you’re traveling with your favorite companion, Opus Hotel is a dog-friendly hotel. Here are a few specifics taken from their site:
- Dog bed, bowls and treats complimentary.
- A dog park is just two blocks away from OPUS.
- Opus staff will take your furry pet out for a “break” at no charge; available upon request.
- Pet fee of $30 + tax (per stay) will be charged for all reservations with pets.
ROOM
The room was spacious enough even with three people (Landon came with us on this trip). The bed could have easily fit all three of us but he chose to sleep on the comfortable couch. Although, this is a very cozy room for two!
The Opus Hotel has also accumulated a few accolades over the years such as the Top 25 Hotels in Canada by TripAdvisor and also featured in Forbes!
It has a very modern feel with all the necessities of home such as a good coffee maker and high-speed Wi-Fi. While traveling with fellow blogging friends, Molly & Irek, we noticed that each room has its own personality; making it a truly unique experience for others.
Each room has a designated iPad, pre-loaded with the best places to visit and recommendations.
LOCATION + VIEW
The surrounding vicinity is a bustling municipal area with different cuisines of restaurants and shops. Including a place to get coffee in the morning like the favorite Starbucks, or new favorites such as the Cactus Club Cafe.
Conveniently located near the train station and bus stop.
AMENITIES
Safety: The Opus Hotel felt extremely secure with cards only allowing access to your particular floor and a staircase being locked so no intruders could get access to your room.
The gym is a state-of-the-art facility having everything from a treadmill and machines to free weights and medicine balls. Some may not be too appreciative of the open viewing gym, but it seems like gyms and the like are designed like this throughout Vancouver. Either way by design or otherwise, we loved the layout of the open setting (yes, blinds are there as well). No fear of others looking down on you for being healthy and active. Maybe you’re in your perfect state but hate others watching, don’t worry, be confident…remember Opus is secure.
DINING
A light, early morning breakfast. Full of fresh fruit, bagels and fruit juice to get you going! The continental breakfast is a special add-on during your stay as their Bed &a Breakfast option.
Pre-dinner munchies, business meetings, or breakfast gatherings, the common area located on the ground floor and lobby is a nice place to relax and meet people.
The Opus Bar is located in the common area of the hotel. Happy Hour is from 3pm-6pm (Monday-Sunday) and serve beer, wine, classic cocktails, and appetizers.
If you fancy a dinner, you can leave your jacket in the hotel room! Across the lobby lies an Italian restaurant: mention the La Pentola. We didn’t get the chance to eat and test their food out but if it taste as good as it looks, I’m sure their dishes are delicious.
The Opus Hotel is a great boutique hotel to stay in the city. The service is great. The rooms are unique and the overall ambiance is very welcoming for a pleasant time. If you’re not much of a homebody, feel free to walk to the waterfront or a nearby cafe for a lively scene.
