We are back on Kauai! If you had asked us 3 months ago when our next visit will be, we’d have no idea. During our trip in Asia, we received an invitation to visit Koloa Landing Resort in Poipu, Kauai. Here we are, showing you what it’s like to stay at this beautiful resort on the Garden Isle.
Koloa Landing Resort is part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection. It’s located on the sunny south shore of Kauai, in the city of Poipu. A 25-acre property that offers luxurious studios and villas and amenities such as the day spa, signature pools, private cabanas, and more.

Getting to Koloa Landing Resort
From Lihue Airport (LIH), it’s about a 25-minute drive. The best way to get to the hotel would be renting a car or taking a Lyft as there is no hotel shuttle service available. Hotel parking in Hawaii usually ranges from $25+ per day, Koloa Landing Resort offers complimentary self-parking!
If you’re using Lyft, get $20 off your first ride here!
Koloa Landing Resort offers two passenger shuttles available to take guests anywhere within the immediate Poipu area, free of charge. Shuttles are subject to availability and may have limited hours. They recommend checking with the bellmen or front desk ahead of time to plan the shuttle use.
Checking-in Koloa Landing Resort
Upon checking-in, we received a fresh flower lei (for women) and kukui nut lei (for men). They offer Mai Tai’s upon arrival (during lounge hours, valid ID required, and juice for children). The lobby offers a beautiful tropical view of the property. Just from the entrance alone, you know you’re in for a great vacation!
When we checked-in, the resort was fully booked! With the property on a 25-acre land, it definitely did not look crowded at all.
Every morning, there is a complimentary coffee station at the lobby!
Two-Bedroom Villa
Once we opened the door to our two-bedroom villa, we were greeted with an arrival amenity from the General Manager on the kitchen counter. Such as a Koloa Landing Resort tote, Hawaiian Host Island Macs chocolate, and the delicious banana bread from Gourmet Marketplace on-site.
The two-bedroom villas offers top of the line amenities and are remarkably spacious. Boasting 1,300 to 1,500 square feet, they offer a full gourmet chef’s kitchen with Wolf & Subzero appliances (some units), two private bathrooms (one for each bedroom), a queen-size sleeper sofa in the living room, king-size bed in the master bedroom, queen-size bed on the second bedroom, A/C, WiFi, semi-private elevator access (some units), and a furnished lanai (balcony) measuring 500 square feet. If you get a corner villa similar to the one we stayed in, the balcony wraps around!
The exact villa we stayed in was Building 1-201, it’s a corner villa which offered an oversized lanai, private elevator access, heating and air conditioning, private bathroom for every bedroom, en suite washer & dryer, queen-sized sleeper sofa in every living room, free WiFi and high speed internet access, and much more.

Amenities at Koloa Landing Resort
We spent a lot of our time enjoying the amenities at Koloa Landing Resort. There’s a volleyball court, putting green, soccer field, fire pits, poolside bbqs, and 24-hour fitness center.
The pools were the main attraction and they have 3 pools and multiple jacuzzis: family lagoon pool, tranquility waterfall pools (adults only), and the famed 350,000-gallon main pool (water slides, waterfalls, swim-through grotto, and infinity edge).
Koloa Landing Resort private cabanas come fully equipped with flat screen TVs, overhead fans, & chaise lounge chairs. If you’re interested in booking a private cabana, call the resort to book at (808) 725-2596.
Throughout the pool area, there are BBQ grills for guests to use!
There is a weekly activity calendar that is available at the check-in desk. One of the special activities is the South Shore S’mores where you can make s’mores on the fire pit lawn at dusk.
Lastly, we were able to escape to a sanctuary of relaxation and renewal at the Spa at Koloa Landing. At the spa, they had a luxurious pre-treatment suite, locker rooms, and private treatment rooms. We had the Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massage and it was pure bliss – we both knocked out during our therapy!
This was our 4th time visiting Kauai and it keeps getting better. In the word of Landon, “This was the best hotel we’ve ever stayed at in Kauai!”. As soon as we got home, we recommended it to families right away. It’s a very kid-friendly resort with a balance of relaxation for the adults. We definitely see ourselves coming back to Koloa Landing Resort with the entire family!
