Amongst the Amatara Collection hotels, we stayed at Amatara Royal Ganesha which is located in the cultural hub of Bali, in Ubud. It’s the perfect place to stay because it’s close to the Sacred Monkey Forest (6km), Ubud Market, Temples, Restaurants, and more

Upon arrival, we were welcomed with a refreshing drink and a chilled towel. I remember being very refreshed with the towel because this was right after we got off from an hour ferry ride from Nusa Penida. A long walk to meet our grab, it was the most refreshing towel after an hour of driving in hot and humid weather. During the check-in process, we were given a rundown on the property, shuttle service and what was included with our room.

The complimentary shuttle service takes you to Coco Mart which is right across Ubud center where you can walk to the Ubud Market and Sacred Monkey Forest.

ROOMS AT AMATARA ROYAL GANESHA

There are four types of rooms offered at Amatara Royal Ganesha: Grand Deluxe Room, Deluxe Room, Triple Room, and Suite Room. We stayed at the Suite Room which offers the perfect view from the balcony with the lush greenery and rice terrace views, perfect for sunrise!

The Suite Room comes with air conditioning, king-size bed, sofa, minibar, free bottled water, coffee/tea maker, safety deposit box, tv with satellite channels, butler services, daily housekeeping, and turndown service, bathtub, hairdryer, and signature bathroom amenities.

Tip: If you’re going for a special occasion, be sure to inquire with the staff at Amatara Royal Ganesha regarding bed decoration upon check-in. They can decorate the bed with flowers and towel foldings.

RESTAURANTS AT AMATARA ROYAL GANESHA

There are two restaurants located at the property: Tampak Siring Restaurant and Bamboe Koening Restaurant. During our stay, we were able to eat at a breakfast buffet, lunch, and dinner at Bamboe Koening Restaurant. Unfortunately, we were not able to try Tampak Siring restaurant but was able to view the beautiful bamboo structure of the restaurant.

YOU NEED TO TRY THE KELPA TART! When dining at Tampak Siring Restaurant, you must get the Kelapa Tart for dessert. Be sure to order this early in the dinner, maybe call when and if they are available because they tend to run out! We heard from a local that Kelapa Tart is a popular dessert but not many restaurants make it.

Google “KELAPA TART”- the only recipes I could find is in Indonesian! But it tastes like a banana creme pie with vanilla pudding, wrapped in a crepe topped with fresh fruits of kiwi and berries! Maybe could be similar to a french vanilla/banana crepe but in pie form! It’s a very rare and unique dish that is even hard to come back to locals (as our food tour guide said).

THINGS TO DO AT AMATARA ROYAL GANESHA

SWIMMING POOL

The outdoor swimming pool is an infinity pool that overlooks the rice paddy. It’s a beautiful place for photos because the pool is so blue and it’s surrounded by greenery! This is a perfect spot for sunrise and morning breakfast view.

Tip: Inquire about their floating breakfast at the infinity pool. This requires at least a 1-day advance reservation.

KAHYANGAN SPA

Amatara Royal Ganesha offers spa treatments right at their property. Located right by the garden area is Kahyangan Spa. They have 40 spa rooms offering treatments such as hot stone massage, reflexology, manicures and pedicures, body scrubs, aromatherapy, and massages.

We wish we had time to lounge around the wide pool at Amatara Royal Ganesha but an all-day tour took up one day. It was our first welcome to Ubud and set a high standard for other hotels! I’d stay here just for the Kelapa Tart!
