While we found ourselves staying at an Airbnb the first few days in Taipei, it was time for an upgrade to experience the city life. After an hour of transportation, we made it to the city of Ximending where it’s known to be the first pedestrian zone in Taiwan. A neighborhood that comes alive at night, filled with food, shopping, and street entertainment.
Checking-in to Amba Hotel in Ximending, we knew we were in for great nightlife in the city! The hotel is located in Western Taipei and the entrance is tucked away within the fashionable Eslite shopping complex on Wuchang Street. It was the perfect hotel for exploring trendy Ximending and a fun Taipei!
Upon walking in on the 5th floor, we noticed the beautiful aesthetic in their lobby. Amba Hotel is an eco-friendly hotel and it entirely relevant within the hotel; we loved the natural lighting throughout the lobby. We also noticed the open-concept within Amba Hotel from their lobby, restaurant, and rooms.
AMBA HOTEL XIMENDING ROOM TOUR
The room categories at the Amba Hotel Ximending are smart room, medium room, large room, extra large room, loft room, and a balcony room. We stayed in one of the Extra Large Room guestrooms with a king size bed located on the highest floor, the 10th floor.
Our guestroom came with a comfortable king size bed with 100% natural unbleached linen with the softest pillows and blankets! If that’s not enough, you’re able to request Hypoallergenic pillows and blankets with 3M™ Thinsulate™ Insulation. The room is made with eco-friendly wood flooring and headboard.
As for entertainment, our room came with a Sony Internet TV with built-in Skype and social media connections, satellite channels include CNN, HBO, FOX Sports, Travel & Living, Disney, NHK, and Phoenix. The best part is that Amba Hotel offers free high-speed fiber-optic based WiFi access throughout the hotel. There are multiple 110V universal power outlets, definitely catering to travelers, especially the millennials. If you’re unable to use the power outlet, they offer voltage converter upon request for no extra charge. Also, the room comes with a desk, perfect to do some computer work!

As mentioned, Amba Hotel has an open-concept theme throughout the hotel. There are separate washroom and shower room with a dual rainforest and power massage showerheads. They use unbleached organic cotton towels and the vanity area had free bath gel, shampoo, hair conditioner, toothbrush, toothpaste, shower cap and cotton buds. All natural ginger rejuvenating bathroom amenities, exclusively provided by socially responsible Taiwanese brand Two Acres. If you’re in need of other bathroom amenities such as a shaver, hairbrush, and sewing kit, it’s available upon request. Lastly, we had two free trendy amba flip flops for you to wear and to take home!
Within the vanity area, there’s also an ultra-soundless mini fridge, quick heating electric kettle, free coffee and Taiwanese tea, and free water bottles. We definitely took the water bottle with us during our activities and tours all over Taiwan!
EXPLORE AMBA HOTEL XIMENDING
At Amba Hotel Ximending, there is artwork on each floor. There were a few specific artworks that stood out to me such as the one located on the 7th floor and its one of the guestroom floor featuring a 14-meter wide painting of Ximending neighborhood. Another one is the frames next to the lobby that looks like 4 faces but up-close, it was all made with stickers.

On the 6th floor, the hotel offers a free self-service laundry. Laundry bags and detergent were located in the laundry room as well. Great service for guests!
DINING AT AMBA HOTEL XIMENDING
Having dining options at the hotel was a plus! There were three different places for food and beverage. The Chiba Restaurant, which was our main place of dining, was where we ate a breakfast buffet and lunch. We also spent one of our nights at Tingba Lounge where we had the best pizza, truffle mushroom pasta, and delicious cocktails. Tingba Lounge also had a live DJ while we were there. Great place to have drinks with friends for sure! Lastly, they have Tianba Bakery where they have coffee and pastries, perfect for on-the-go!

Amba Hotel Ximending is a perfect place to stay to experience the nightlife in the city! We had an incredible time during our stay, especially, exploring the area at night. When it comes to shopping, food, and street entertainment, this is a great hotel to stay at!
