Along with the beautiful scenery of the frozen lake, covered by a thin snow layer and getting a massage in the most comfortable spa we’ve visited during our Whistler trip, we quickly realized how much Nita Lodge had to offer. After a long day, we had dinner at Aura Restaurant with our friends, Molly & Irek. It was a great celebratory occasion of Irek’s 3rd year of working as a forex trader full time!
Aura Restaurant had a special winter trio which we all decided to try. It was $49 per person that included an appetizer, main dish, and dessert.
With it being a celebration, we had to start off the night with something bubbly, just as the atmosphere was! A bottle of Veuve Clicquot was the choice and it was delicious as it was bubbly.
APPETIZER
Winter Squash Soup with pumpkin seed gremolata and herb pumpkin seed oil. This was a perfect starter, nice and warm soup while it was snowing outside.
Nita Salad with shaved root vegetables, toasted hazelnut, and house dressing. This dish normally comes with crumbled goat cheese but we opted out for the vegan option.
MAIN DISH
The menu is vegan friendly during all times of the day. If you choose a dish that isn’t originally to your liking of a plant-based diet, the chefs and servers were ready and willing to help spice the dish up to your specific palate. They were very flexible with their dishes, not many restaurants can say that.
Carrot Medley Salad with orange juice braised carrot, carrot tonka bean puree, and kale mandarin.
For a side, appetizer, or main dish (“super-sized”) the roasted fingerling potatoes were mouth watering. It’s hard to mess up potatoes but it’s also hard to create a different taste for familiar dishes, such as potatoes. The we they were served was phenomenally delicious! Luckily, every entree comes with these little bites of tastiness!
Orzo Pasta with sun-dried tomato and pine nut pesto. Delicious plant-based dish! Mary enjoyed this very much.
DESSERT
Sherbet ice cream (vegan) with assorted fruits! This was finished in a couple of minutes.
Their signature vegan dessert: Pumpkin Spice Creme Brûlée dessert with candied orange peel, caramel sauce, and gingersnap cookie. Sugar tooth overload!
The winter trio at Aura restaurant made it very simple to order! It was organized, had minimal choices and with the flexibility of dishes, makes this restaurant a five star experience. Do visit Aura for breakfast as well! It is just as satisfying.
