Honolulu International Airport is continuously expanding with new airlines and destinations being added to the mix almost annually. Recently, they renovated the arrival and departing gates as well as expanding the parking structure. With a new facelift of the airport (they’re still adding a lot more at the airport), we also happen to experience a new one-way destination to Taiwan from Honolulu offered by China Airlines.
China Airlines is the largest airline of Taiwan and we flew to it’s headquarter which is located at Taoyuan International Airport. We’ve only flown with another airline from China in the past and did not like their service at all. Therefore, we were excited to experience this one as their impeccable service and friendly staff are often raved about.
Since Reid was not able to join me on this trip, I was able to take one of my friends, Tiara. Prior to heading to the airport, we checked in online. For all flights, you’re able to check-in 24 hours ahead of time. This will save time at the airport, and all you have to do is check-in your baggage. Checking-in our luggage was smooth and flawless with China Airlines. The staff was accommodating and offered to put the tags on our bags. For our international flight, we were allowed to bring two check-in luggage and two personal carry-ons, all free of charge.
For our flight, we flew with one of the new China Airlines aircraft, A350-900. On this aircraft, there’s a premium business class (fully flat seats), premium economy class, and economy class. If you’re not in the premium business class, do not worry because the economy class offers plenty of leg room! Their newly designed cabins create an ambiance of Chinese culture before arriving anywhere resembling China itself. The atmosphere newly designed seats were a gigantic contribution to the comfort of our long journey.

Apart from being spacious and comfy, China Airlines also offers two meal times on their Honolulu to Taiwan flight along with a plethora of movies, shows, and games on board. The first meal was served an hour after we departed and two hours before landing. The service throughout the flight was excellent! Our flight attendants were continuously walking down the aisle asking passengers if their service is needed while passing out snacks and beverage. We were fully fed throughout our trip!
Overall, China Airlines exceeded our expectations. From checking-in to our flight experience, everything went very smoothly. For a 10 hour flight, one way from Honolulu to Taiwan, we were absolutely comfortable. We will definitely fly with China Airlines again on our next trip to Asia!
