After a few days in the city of Ubud, Bali, which is known for its picturesque rice fields and enchanting monkey forests, we jumped on board a ‘Grab’ (ride-share service) and headed toward Nusa Dua, (southern Bali) for a white sandy-beach getaway. The plethora of choices of where to stay in Bali as a whole can be daunting. We were looking for an experience that is luxurious, yet, intimate, along the beach, and after a failed surf attempt near Uluwatu, a place that offered activities.
As our Bali trip was nearing an end, we also wanted to stay somewhere near the airport so we could really soak in some Bali sun. Only 30 minutes away from Ngurah Rai International Airport, the main airport of Bali, we were lucky to work with Samabe Bali Suites & Villas, that fit all our criteria!
ARRIVING AT SAMABE BALI SUITES & VILLAS
Upon arrival, we were greeted with fresh flower leis and offered a refreshing sampler of fruit juice shots, yes shots, and were offered more from the bar if we enjoyed it. After we gulped the tropical shots of coconut and dragonfruit juices, to name a few, a member of the Concierge brought over a brochure of what amenities and services were included. It was so detailed and full of information, it was almost easier to ask “What’s not included?”
CHECKING-IN TO THE POOL VILLA
Once we were able to close our jaws from the amazement of hospitality and resources available to us, we jumped on a buggy (golf-cart) that took us and our belongings to our Pool Villa. ONE-BEDROOM POOL VILLA
At Samabe Bali Suites & Villas, we stayed in a one-bedroom villa with 24-hour butler service. In all our travels, it was the first time receiving such incredible conviviality. It really made us feel like VIPs. The best part about this service is it is available to ALL suites and villas. With only 81 rooms on the entire premise, the ambiance was much more intimate and every want or need was taken care of in a timely manner.

RESTAURANTS & BARS
Our stay also came with complimentary breakfast where we enjoyed food delivery one morning in the privacy of our villa and the following morning at the on-property restaurant – Rempah-Rempah. Throughout the property, bars, grills, and a special cave dinner is optional eating venues.
Samabe Bali Suites & Villas should be nicknamed ‘the honeymoon suites’ because it tops the romantic list with a private cave and beach dinner. Unfortunately for Mary, I’m not a fan of all the fluff and romantic things but I have to admit we were both entirely captivated with the beautiful and romantic scene they had set up for our cave dinner. Over 10 years of being together, the cave dinner was the most romantic thing we had experienced up to that point.
ACTIVITIES & EXPERIENCES
As mentioned before, we were looking forward to some action with beach activities! Samabe Bali Suites & Villas offers access to non-motorized activities like kayaking, snorkeling, stand-up paddle boarding, and in another addition to a group of firsts, windsurfing! It was a lot harder than I expected it to be but fun despite not being able to move more than 10 feet.
If you find sand ‘coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere’ there’s also a main pool and gym to keep up with physical wellness. Regardless, a walk down 171 steps to the beach from the main Villas is a good workout as well… and you can get a tan while doing so! Have no worry though as a elevator lift is accessible going to and from the beach. (wheelchair access available)
What else is there do aside from watersport activities? Samabe Bali Suites & Villas offers other experience such as floating breakfast, afternoon high-tea at the beach, cooking classes, and foam parties in your own pool villa! HOSPITALITY ROOM
What to do when you have a later flight after checking-out? After checking out, guests can lounge in a Hospitality room (Butler Lounge) and shower if their flight is later, after check-out. The hospitality room offers comfy chairs, ample room to do work, educational books, and a literal movie theatre to pass the time away before your flight.
Many people go to Hawaii for a tropical honeymoon but that begs the questions: where do people from Hawaii go for a honeymoon? If you thought Las Vegas, the unofficial 9th island, you were close. However, for us, Bali it is! As of writing this post, we have been married for two years and without realizing it, we enjoyed the most romantic getaway at Samabe Bali Suites & Villas. It was our first ‘real’ honeymoon and we enjoyed every minute of it!
