During our recent stay in Vancouver, we rejuvenated at the world-famous, luxurious Shangri-La. Headquartered out of Hong Kong in 1971, the Shangri-La Hotel and Resorts are synonymous with the affluent and leisure.
EXTRAVAGANT LOBBY
We didn’t explore too thoroughly the first night as we arrived late, checked-in and headed to bed. Inside, the ceiling-high windows and gold highlights through the beautiful lobby created a soothing yet, prosperous ambiance.

FIVE-STAR FACILITIES
A misconception may be the hotel not appearing to be too grand in size. The building is located in the middle of Vancouver and offers a Rolex store-access through the Hotel’s extravagant lobby. Although the hotel doesn’t seem significant on the outside, the property has a lot to offer. From a library, Theater, fitness center, outdoor pool, restaurant, spa, and business rooms.
With an endless selection of workout stations, there’s no excuse to take a break from staying healthy and active!
First class spa, also available to guests – Pool and jacuzzi (along with bar) available for use just outside of Chi.
EXECUTIVE BALCONY KING ROOM
First off, I need to admit I was disappointed upon first opening the door, only because I limited my thinking. Upon entering, the bathroom was slanted off from the rest of the room and gave the illusion like the one you’d see in a cruise ship bathroom. Glad to know I was wrong. The room filled with plenty of natural lighting, and if that wasn’t enough, there was also a “work” area for ladies to use a studio light vanity. The sights were spectacular along with complimentary wifi access, cd/DVD player with stereo surround sound, and iPod docking stations.

Knowing that their guests are important business people, a tie rack and jewelry bowl are ready at hand to prevent any losses or bad appearances.
For Mary, speaking for the ladies, this vanity section of the room was accommodating! Help with doing hair and makeup properly, since there is an outlet station. As mentioned before, the lighting was perfect!
BATHROOM
All marble and very hi-tech with an LCD tv inside the mirror, at the bottom. Filled with luxury brand products such as L’occitane products and plush robes. A glass door shower and a deep tub allow the most romantic of escapes, inside the comfort of your own room!
BALCONY
We took full advantage of the very spacious balcony! Our balcony overlooked a bustling city yet, peered up in awe as we were in the middle of it all. A great place used to get some work done, watched the city come to life with human traffic and I think at the right temperature, the balcony would be a perfect place for a sun-tan.

IN-ROOM BREAKFAST
The spa was great, the facilities were fabulous, but the most enjoyable part of our entire experience was to the tune of a door-knock waking us for our in-room breakfast every day. The choices offered better things in the immediate location and are perfect people who’d rather stay in bed. Choose between a hearty-fat-filled breakie or go with something like and healthy like a bowl of fruit and OJ.

That said, we can’t recommend visiting the Shang-ri La in Vancouver enough. It was a very pleasurable and romantic affair together; such a delight to have spent a couple of nights here! With 10/10 breakfast and top amenities, there’s no reason NOT to give Shang-ri La a try.
