We still remember our very first time trying out Pieology’s pizza. When it finally opened in Hawaii, we visited with our entire family for dinner. The cauliflower crust changed the game for us, even beating out one of the best places to eat pizza in the USA. Pieology has become a new favorite pizza spot. Little did we know, they would be coming out with Plant Based toppings!
Pieology recently came out with their Premium Plant Proteins! With three new veggie meat options such as “Beef Meatballs”, “Spicy Italian Sausage Rounds”, and “Diced Chicken”. They are vegan, cholesterol free, non-GMO, and free of cholesterol and soluble fats. The high-protein comes from soy protein and pea protein. They look like meat, taste like meat but are made with veggies – so as they say! Now, do we think it taste like meat? Keep on reading!
“Spicy Italian Sausage Rounds” – about 20g of protein in a 3oz serving
“Beef Meatball” – about 14g of protein in a 3oz serving
“Diced Chicken” – about 14g of protein in 3oz serving
During our visit to try out the new plant proteins, we ordered two pizzas with different toppings. Our main crust of choice will always be the Cauliflower crust! If you haven’t tried it out yet, we highly suggest doing so. It tastes just like a regular crust but crispier! Also, they have a vegan mozzarella cheese option from Daiya! On one pizza we had the “Spicy Italian Sausage Rounds” and on the other we had the “Beef Meatballs” and “Diced Chicken”.
VERDICT OF PLANT PROTEINS
“Spicy Italian Sausage Rounds”: 5/5 – This was our favorite topping! It wasn’t spicy at all and it tasted the best out of the three.
“Beef Meatballs”: 4/5 – It tasted exactly like regular meat! If you’ve had the Italian sausage on pizza before, this is similar.
“Diced Chicken”: 2/5 – Our least favorite because it was very chewy and tasted too “healthy”.
