While at the beautiful luxury-hotel, Shangri-La Vancouver, we had the chance to experience their state-of-the-art facilities. Catering to both men and women specifically, Chi Spa offers a wide range of pampering that includes facials, massages, feet, and hands isolated massages. Couple massages are also available, which we obviously went with; however, we chose to have our massages in different suites (every massage room is a suite).
After checking-in, we waited for fresh tea and our masseuses to arrive. This is also the time where you fill out paperwork for any specific areas to you’d prefer to be worked on or avoided.
The waiting room is filled with products used for guests and other spa items such as hot-tub bath salt for taking up to your room post-massage. Everything on display is purchasable but don’t let the accessibility doubt its worthiness. Chi Spa uses luxury products such as Caudalíe and Sea Flora.
After handing our forms to our recently introduced masseuses, we had some snacks and differently flavored cup-o-tea!
Once the masseuse introduced herself, we were both taken to our spa room. We were told to go in the sauna which was in our room for a few minutes, rinse off, and put on the robe and head to the spa bed.
Each spa room has the sauna area, shower, bathtub, and the spa bed. We were in different rooms since the couples room was undergoing a renovation at the moment during our visit. We both had a refreshing massage. After a massage, the masseuse suggested to drink lots of water which is always recommended at spas.
The point of keeping on top of hydrating is to help your body naturally rid the toxins the massage and its specifically designed solutions, out of your system.
Each guest that does the spa can choose a classic smoothie from the Ginger Bar Menu. We both went with the Green Detoc which had Cucumber, celery, parsley, spinach, ginger, lemon, lime, and apple juice.
Before your spa experience, be sure to make use of their swimming pool, jacuzzi, snack/drink bar and gym, all on the same level as Chi Spa. After your sweaty workout, your spa appointment will make up for that lactic acid build up. My favorite part was the cucumber steam and refreshing sauna. If you aren’t staying at the Shang-Ri La hotel, Chi Spa is worth a visit in Vancouver.
