The owner of a popular bar and karaoke place in Honolulu opened a restaurant in Kapolei called DB Grill. Kapolei is located on the West side of Oahu and is continuously opening new restaurants. DB Grill began in 2017, and we finally had the chance to try it out!
Hours of Operation:
Sunday to Thursday 11:00 am – Midnight
Friday to Saturday 11:00 am – 1:00 am
Located by Kapolei Commons, if you plan on going to DB Grill, there’s plenty of parking around the area! We went around 12 pm during the weekday and, it was quite empty. Usually, when we pass by during the weekends, this place appears to be fully occupied!
The restaurant itself has a lot of tables, bar stools, and bar seating area. If you’re having a special event such as a birthday party, work party, etc. you’re able to reserve the whole upstairs!

We had the lunch menu. They have a different menu for dinner with more plates options. The drink menu includes craft cocktails, soju cocktails, and soft drinks. For the food menu, they offer appetizers, plates, salads, bowls, sandwiches, and desserts.
Drink of choice was Son of a Peach – it was lunchtime but it’s 5’oclock somewhere right? The cocktail was crafted with some of my favorites: peach Ciroc, lychee, lemon, pomegranate, and sprite.
The Chicken Wings ($12) was the most raved item, it even had a star next to it on the menu! You’re able to choose between garlic soy, spicy Korean, or hoisin pepper sauce. I went with garlic soy which was full of garlic flavor from the sauce. It was delicious!
While I’m (Mary) not a fan of Kimchee, I decided to try out the Kimchee Fried Rice ($13) per our waitress. She recommended it and mentioned that it goes well with the garlic chicken. This bowl is curated with kimchi, bacon, onion, kimchi butter, crispy egg, and rice. I’m not a big spicy eater but this one was tolerable.
This is the Ed’s Signature Kalbi Plate with big bone marinated short rib, duck fat fried rice, and sauteed kimchi. The rice was a little too crispy (which is not normal per our waitress) and it came with one strip of a marinated short rib. For $22, I think it’s best to order other items on the menu.
Lastly, one of our friends ordered the DB Tacos which had 3 soft tacos. Choices from bulgogi, Korean style pork, jalapeno onion relish, pickled onions, lettuce, and house gochujang. Each taco is filled with flavor which is a great deal for only $12!
