RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE
We were able to bring a guest to the event. Since Reid is out of town, I invited my friend, Kehau, to experience the dining. The first thing we noticed was the beautiful open air dining area built along live plant overflowing the walls creating a fresh atmosphere. The lighting was perfect, especially after the sun went down, showcasing the design. Don’t worry about rain because Herringbone has the flexibility to cover above with a state-of-the-art sliding roof. There’s also a lot of tables for different size groups making it perfect for intimate gatherings and private parties.
MIXOLOGY
The bar is located right at the entrance. Lots of room around the bar, perfect for happy hour! Check out the drink menu; they offer delicious island inspired + specialty cocktails, classic mixed drinks, wine (sparkling, whites, red, and rosé), beer (draught and bottled), and non-alcoholic drinks. Honestly, at this event, I’ve tasted the best lychee martini I have ever had!
OYSTER HOUR
Happy Hour aka Oyster Hour is available daily from 4 pm (16:00) to 6 pm (18:00) at the bar and lounge. One of the freshest seafood spots in town just opened in the middle of Waikiki! Fresh seafood is also displayed in front of the kitchen. In this photo, there is Kona Lobster, Deep Water Crabs, King Crab, Kauai Shrimp Peel and Eat, and West Coast Oysters.
APPETIZERS + GREENS
I could begin and end with the appetizers. I love appetizers in restaurants, and the menu has items that I’ve never heard of nor tasted before. Let’s just say that I would come back in a heartbeat for the appetizers!
This smell of the buffalo sauce permeating through the air as it came out took everyone’s breath away. I’m not a fan of buffalo sauce and would have never ordered it otherwise. Being that it was a set menu for the event, this dish was served – it was certainly delicious! Never say never and trust the chef with their pairings. Also, Don’t judge food by your past tasteless trials.
My favorite appetizer of the night goes to this deadly dish. It’s called DEATH BY POTATOES. Think of your favorite mashed potatoes with more flavor, crispy parmesan on top, and perfect bits of bacon. THIS WAS INSANELY GOOD!
ENTRÉE
With seafood perfection and proper meat pairings per season, Herringbone serves the freshest things! The presentations are as good and flavorful as it appears.
My favorite all time pasta is carbonara, and I’ve never had it with Udon noodles. Okay, there were a lot of things here that I’ve never seen, heard of or dream would be okay together. Well…Game changer! The soft poached eggs on top made this dish a perfection!
DESSERTS
After the appetizers and main entrees, dessert followed. The delicious display of sweet delicacy was laid out in a buffet style. As much as we were stuffed from the insane meals, we had given into our inquisitive cravings and began the taste tasting mission.
“This is where I’m having my birthday party next month for sure!” – Just one of the compliments that were repeated throughout our table. Herringbone is a perfect place for date nights, group dates, parties, and private events. I would recommend this place for seafood + meat lovers and those looking to experience different dish pairings. It is a surf and turf on another level! I see myself planning a date here shortly, once Reid is back in town.
