Picture yourself in deep space floating around in your spaceship. Your stomach is making weird noises so you reach for a pack of ready-to-go drink that has the essential elements to keep a human going for the long journey. Sounds a bit Sci-Fi doesn’t it? But what if I told you something like that already exist? Let’s talk about Huel.
What is HUEL?
Huel is a play on words for “Human Fuel”. Huel contains the FDA’s daily recommendation of 27 essential vitamins and minerals. A nutritionally complete food that you can use as a meal replacement for on-the-go lifestyles.
I have personally been using HUEL for around 4 years now. In the beginning, it wasn’t physically making me full and I wound up eating something after, maybe not a full solid meal but it was still something. After years of using it, one in the morning with a cup of coffee to start the day makes me feel like it’s the breakfast of champions! Although, it does take some getting used to.
How to drink Huel – Hot or cold?
Best served chilled. Drinking it with warm water is a highly recommended NO-GO. Room temperature and water together make it taste like you’re eating cardboard.
How does Huel taste?
As Huel is geared toward nutrition over taste, it can be a hit or miss with any individual. My wife hates it, on the other hand, I can drink it with tap water but rather opt for a handful of fruits with some nut milk if possible but it’s not necessary. Almond, Coconut, and Soy milk have been quality in making my Huel drinks.
Currently, there are optional flavor boosts you can add to enhance the carboard-tasting flavor, like apple cinnamon, banana, berry, mint chocolate, strawberry, or pumpkin spice.
DIFFERENT COMBINATIONS TO MAKE HUEL:

Potential Side Effects of Huel:
Apart from maybe filling hungry, Gas, diarrhea, and possible bowel movements can occur.
Negatives of Huel:
Overall I have not felt, thought, heard of negative side effects of Huel. Other than it tasting bland/atrocious, it does contain sucrose, an artificial sweetener that is 600 times sweeter than sugar but small quantities are used in Huel to make it palatable.
WHAT’S IN HUEL?
Powdered oats, sunflower, flaxseed, coconut, rice and dietary supplements of vitamins and minerals. Amino acids are also naturally derived from the ingredients.
A future food, financially affordable for all, better than a plate lunch maybe not in taste but in calories, proteins, and overall nutritious value. I’ve replaced my morning brekkie of bacon eggs and rice for HUEL over the quarantine and can confidently say that yes, I am still alive. Thriving actually. Huel really is, indubitable, Human Fuel. A Pre-packaged Powder that’s easy to make into drink that gives me POWER!

BENEFITS OF HUEL:
Apart from the amazing beneficial nutrient content, Huel is plant-based (vegan), simple to use, cost-effective, ethical, and convenient. It’s made from sustainable ingredients such as oats, peas, rice, flaxseed, sunflower, and coconut.
Nothing will beat a full meal of real, solid veggies but it comes close if you’re a busy body. Our body needs to produce saliva and consume and chew real foods, because that releases serotonin and dopamine, feel-good chemicals. Overall, it’s good to have Huel with a BALANCED diet, don’t live off the stuff. It’s not meant to be its own diet, although I wouldn’t be surprised that it’s possible to live off this stuff. I don’t think I could do that but it sure helps for quick -got to get energy in ma body before a meeting-meals.
“For those individuals wanting to follow a vegan diet, Huel is a good source of protein, vitamin D, and B vitamins. [These] are found in good amounts in a serving of Huel, but maybe lacking in a vegan diet.” — Helen Gariner (registered Nutritionist and Dietitian

CONCLUSION:
I’m not a great cook but Huel was the perfect solution and helped take the energy of thinking and making a nutritious meal to be invested in other tasks, especially for early mornings. Adding fruits help the palatability and for me, it has given me flatulence and the occasional stomach but I still enjoy making it and devouring it! I recommend this drink for anyone trying to lose weight or want to live a more balanced lifestyle, starting with their diet. It has saved me money and has made me feel great since I started using the product over 4 years now.
