Hawaii is always rapidly growing. Leave it for just a few months and the difference in scenery causes a double take reaction. With the constant change that is life, a drive through Waikiki reveals the home of new establishments every day. On closer inspection, we realize that it’s simply the same building, same name but completely renovated. This seems to be happening all across Oahu’s south side. Noticing the number of hotels going through improvements within the past couple years, we were able to stay at one of the classics.
Overlooking the Ala Wai harbor, greeting any visitor entering Waikiki lies the prime location of Prince Waikiki Hotel. Although we haven’t stayed at Prince Waikiki hotel before, we’ve had friends that have stayed here and have noticed the changes. We were excited to enjoy the newly redesigned guest rooms, restaurants, and their infinity pool!
OCEAN FRONT ROOM
The 12th floor is where we found ourselves checking-in for the weekend! There’s nothing more exciting than seeing the room you’ll be in for the next few days. We walked into a beautiful ocean front room with a gorgeous glass showered bathroom, king size bed, and luxury amenities such as soft robes, plush room slippers, and Malie organic products.

DINING AT PRINCE WAIKIKI
Prince Waikiki offers a few places, on the property, where you can satisfy your food and beverage fix: 100 Sails Restaurant & Bar, Hinana Bar, Katsumidori Sushi Tokyo, Honolulu Coffee Company, and of course, In-Room Dining. If you have access to the Prince Waikiki Club Lounge, you’ll find refreshments there as well!
During our stay, we had a delicious breakfast at 100 Sails Restaurant. They offer a breakfast buffet or ordering off the A La Carte menu. We ordered from the menu and got the Acai Bowl, Avocado Toast, and Punalu’u French Toast. The food tasted just as it looked: amazing! Another great thing about the restaurant is while eating your breakfast, you have a beautiful view of the Ala Wai Harbor and surfers in the distance!
The Hinana Bar is a perfect place to get some cocktail drinks and finger food while lounging at the pool or just there for some casual dining. We had a half day Ocean Front Cabana experience from 3pm-7pm for $110. You do not need to be a hotel guest to rent their cabanas! We picked the afternoon experience because it’s perfect for sunset! The staff was there to take our order and deliver our food to us at the pool area. We had the Salt & Vinegar Chicken Wings, Taro Chips & Hummus, and Caesar Salad.
Right after our cabana experience, we had a Private Cabana Dinner – one of the most romantic dinners we’ve had in Waikiki while watching the sunset! We had our own friendly-waiter for the night serving us food from 100 Sails Restaurant. The food was pre-selected during our stay, so it made our dinner convenient and exciting – not knowing what we’ll get next. Everything was so delicious from the appetizers (cheese and fruit platter, fried cauliflower, hummus dip, and sushi), main dish (surf & turf), and dessert (shave ice with ice cream). We’re so happy that Landon got to experience this amazing dinner with us and witness the breathtaking views.
AMENITIES
Prince Waikiki offers an array of services and amenities such as their Prince Pleasures, Hotel Shuttle Service, Swimming Pool, Muliwai Pool Deck, Fitness Facility, and Complimentary use of (high speed/time limited) wifi, computer, and printer for guests!
The Swimming Pool is located on the 5th floor along with Muliwai Pool Deck. There’s a jacuzzi, regular swimming pool, and an infinity pool. We spent most of our time at the infinity pool and soaking in the gorgeous view. The best part about the pool area is that it’s open 24 hours!

The Muliwai Pool Deck is just beside the Hinana Bar. It’s a beautiful deck with lounge chairs, tables, and grills; A perfect place for barbecuing with the family!
The fitness facility is also open 24 hours and it’s located on the same level as the pool, 5th floor. Equipment includes a treadmill, elliptical trainers, exercise bikes, strength machines, and free weights.
If the location and the view that Prince Waikiki offers doesn’t satisfy your taste, then settle for its beautiful sunset view inside their infinity pool. However, the location can be pretty convincing: A 20-minute drive to the airport, 15-minute walk to what was once the largest outdoor mall in the world – Ala Moana, a 10-minute walk to an epic surf spot (during the summer) and just outside of the bustle of Waikiki. It’s in a perfect place and their newly renovated ambiance is worth a first choice when it comes to the nearest hotel upon entering Waikiki and second stay to experience the renovations. A perfect place to stay!
