For Mary’s birthday weekend, we had an opportunity to stay at the Coconut Waikiki hotel. We stayed at this hotel on the same weekend in 2016. Since then, this boutique hotel has gone through a few renovations and at the time of the post, still undergoing some changes.
Coconut Waikiki hotel is located on Lewer Street, facing the Ala Wai Canal. While staying at Coconut Waikiki hotel, we ended up not using our car since the hotel is walking distance to many restaurants and shopping malls in Waikiki. Just within .6 miles or, a 13-minute walk (5-minute drive), you’ll be at the famous Waikiki Beach! If you’re looking for other things to do besides eating, shopping, and the beach, check out these activities you can do in Waikiki! Keep in mind if you drive, you will most likely be paying for parking. Instead, we decided to walk everywhere from eating, shopping, and the beach!
Money Saving Tip: If you’re just staying in Waikiki, you can save money by not renting a car. Parking in Waikiki can cost $30 per night or more.
LOBBY
The lobby is where we found ourselves the most during our stay. It’s filled with family-friendly activities such as a waiting area/game room with board games, books, and cards. It’s also where they set-up the complimentary coffee, tea, and fruit-infused water station which is available all day. Besides the drinks, they have a popcorn machine in the lobby during the afternoon.
If you’re looking for activities, the receptionists are there to help; They offer activities at the hotel! Check out the schedule here. The 24-hour gym center is located on the same floor as the lobby. Also, they offer complimentary beach towels, chairs, and umbrella to take to the beach!
CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST
In the morning, they have a continental breakfast buffet complimentary for the guests at the hotel. The breakfast offered cereal, eggs, fruits, bagels, yogurt, and a waffle maker! The waffle maker was a win, especially with coconut syrup! If you haven’t tried coconut syrup on waffles or pancakes, highly suggest on trying it!
POOL
It was very windy during our stay which limited our pool time. However, the pool area at Coconut Waikiki is something you can’t miss! It’s got a heated outdoor swimming pool with a sun deck, lounge chairs, barbecue grills, and an outdoor dining area – an outdoor play area with a sandbox for the kids and giant games for teens and adults – fun for the whole family!
EXECUTIVE SUITE
In 2016, we stayed at a single king bedroom, this time around, we stayed in the Executive Suites. It comes with a comfy, king-sized bed and queen-sized foldout sofa bed. It was perfect for our family! It’s complete with a kitchenette with a microwave and mini-fridge, wet bar with plates and silverware, Keurig K-cup coffeemaker, a work desk, television, in-room safe, and more! Our favorite part about the room was the dual private balcony with a view of the mountain on one side and city on the other. We had a nice and relaxing stay!
