DSC05830Coconut Waikiki Hotel is a nice boutique hotel located on Lewers Street. San Francisco-based Filament Hospitality recently took over management of the hotels from JdV Hotels and is running things smoothly. As soon as we arrived, we pulled in for the valet parking. For a boutique hotel, valet parking was pricey, I believe it was $30.00 a day or self park on the street which is very difficult to find and your odds definitely don’t increase over the weekend. Luckily, this hotel is only minutes away from the main strip of downtown Waikiki. Just about every entertainment venue is in walking distance. For example, we went to the Apple store and Cheesecake factory on our own two feet from this hotel. No transportation required.

DSC05784Of all the hotels we’ve had the privilege of staying at, this was the first, so far, that had complimentary breakfast. The breakfast wasn’t a full buffet but it had enough to get your day started. Waffles, muffins, fresh fruits, cereal, coffee, orange juice, and infused fruit water were on the table. In the process of welcoming the new day, there is a beautiful seating area outside to aid in the enjoyment of your breakfast.

IMG_9749As soon as you can in the room, it’s a perfect little dining/kitchen area for “dorm-life-nights” – Ramen, soup, refrigerate fruits, or hot pockets for those late night snacks, make coffee, or tea.

Super comfortable beds!

IMG_9743We enjoyed watching the sunset together outside our balcony. It was very serene and beautiful. The view was of the Ala Wai Canal with Manoa Valley in the foreground.

DSC05824The sunrise woke us up pleasantly! The Ala Wai was smooth and placid, runners were enjoying their morning exercise, and the city bustled as the sun rose.

IMG_977024 hour fitness? How about 24 hour just down stairs gym!? This was an awesome feature I wish we had more time to use. Empty, open 24/7, no room key needed – gym.

IMG_9778Fun little pool for children, no jacuzzi.

Another thing that Coconut Hotel offers for kids is the “Kids’ Rule! Package”
Through June 21st, family-friendly Coconut Waikiki Hotel encourages kids to curate their own vacation, from checking themselves in, to capturing the memory with a fun family pic. On arrival, they will receive a welcome sand toy kit from Coconut’s mascot Bosley the Gorilla! Kids participate in an island-themed drawing competition where the “artwork of the week” will be showcased in the hotel’s lobby and via social media. During their stay, children can also select one special activity from a visit to the Discovery Children’s Museum to a ukulele, lei making or surfing lesson (additional fees apply for more than one child). Package price is $908 for a four-night minimum.

Coconut Hotel is a great place to stay at if you’re here for business or for a quick trip visiting Oahu. You’ll be spending most of your time exploring Oahu or wandering downtown Waikiki and this hotel is in a perfect spot that enables you to do so.
