Today, we are showing how to make our favorite movie snack! Hawaiian hurricane popcorn is a delicious mix of popcorn, nori or furikake, and mochi crunch. There are different ways to make hurricane popcorn – this recipe is our absolute favorite combination!
HAWAIIAN HURRICANE POPCORN INGREDIENTS
- 1 bag popcorn of your choice (this is our choice of popcorn)
- 1-2 tbsp nori furikake seasoning (this is what we used)
- 1 bag of mochi crunch or arare, also known as Japanese rice crackers (this is our favorite)
- Optional: add a tbsp of melted butter for nori furikake to stick to the popcorn (if needed).
We bought most of our ingredients at Foodland in Hawaii. If you do not have access to Foodland, you can find some items at your local grocery store and on amazon.
HOW TO MAKE HAWAIIAN HURRICANE POPCORN
Place one bag of kettle popcorn in the microwave for 2 minutes. Our favorite popcorn is the kettle popcorn which adds a slight sweetness flavor. Then, transfer the popcorn into a large bowl.
If needed, mix a tbsp of melted butter with the popcorn. Then, add 1 to 2 tbsp of nori furikake seasoning. We use the Maika’i organic nori furikake seasoning from Foodland. They have other furikake seasonings available such as yuzu furikake, and ume furikake.
Top it off with a bag of mochi crunch or arare. Our absolute favorite is the Maika’i kaki mochi original mix from Foodland. This is by far the best mochi crunch snack we have ever tasted. Lastly, mix everything together and enjoy your delicious Hawaiian hurricane popcorn!
