When it comes to Waikiki, there’s an abundance of great restaurants to visit. Being that it’s the city is the main tourist hang out on Oahu, it’s also the main place to find some of the greatest restaurants in town. So where shall we start?

1. Hula Grill

First off, one of our favorite restaurants in Hawaii, Hula Grill. We’ve dined at this restaurant multiple times and would go back again and again! Whenever we go, it’s usually not too crowded. Being that it’s on the 2nd floor, it’s harder to see from all of the foot traffic in Waikiki but revealing an impeccable view of the strip. It’s located on top of one of the most famous restaurants in Waikiki, Duke’s Restaurant. Even though Duke’s is more popular than Hula Grill, it doesn’t mean its better. Definitely, have Hula Grill on your list when it comes to dining in Waikiki!

2. Marukame Udon

Whenever we get a chance to stay in Waikiki, dining at Marukame Udon is a must! If you like udon and Japanese food, this place will not let you down. Don’t be fooled by the long line outside because the wait isn’t long. It’s like a cafeteria style restaurant where you get your food on a tray and sit down. People are in and out which makes the waiting in line quicker than it looks.

3. Herringbone

We’ve dined at Herringbone a few times and it’s divine! It’s located in the International Marketplace which offers a lot of parking. The ambiance at Herringbone is amazing, it’s a great place for group lunch or dinner. We love the open air, live plants overflowing the walls, and the whole atmosphere. Also, on the weekends, they have an incredible brunch menu. The food is 5 out of 5 stars for sure!

4. Tiki’s Grill & Bar

Tiki’s Grill & Bar is on the 2nd floor, overlooking Waikiki beach. We stumbled upon this restaurant after spending the day in Waikiki. It was a spontaneous lunch and we would dine here again. The food was very delicious and the presentation was top notch!

5. Tommy Bahama Restaurant

There seems to be a trend when it comes to 2nd-floor restaurants in Waikiki. Tommy Bahama restaurant is also located on the 2nd floor of the shop. The restaurant has a 1st and 2nd floor. The main dining area is on the 1st floor but we decided to dine on the 2nd floor since it has a fire pit during dinner. The rooftop bar and dining are located on the 2nd floor. The best thing about dining here is that they bring out a tray of all of their desserts and trust me, you’ll want to order a dessert once you see the sample tray! You can’t miss the pineapple crème brulée, so delicious!

8. Yauatcha

Dim Sum to the next level! Yauatcha offers a high-end spin on Chinese food. We took the whole family for lunch here after our wedding ceremony and the service was incredible! Making sure our table was catered to and no glasses were left empty at all times. Great service, food, desserts, what more can we say!

While we haven’t dined at this restaurant, yelp has it highly rated! One of our friends used to work here and he even said the food was delicious. It’s a yakiniku type of dining with a chef preparing and cooking the food in front of you. A chef show and dining experience indeed!

  1. Great recommendations. We’ve tried most of them. Here is one worthy of the breakfast list: Heavenly, 342 Seaside. A quiet gem just off the heavily traffic yet convenient to everything and one of the best morning’s we spent last week. Give it a try!
