We love the “long” drive up and through the North Shore! There are numerous reasons why we make the drive there. We love the beach, scenery, and most of all, the food. North Shore is famous for the beaches but also the best place to get shave ice, an acai bowl, and most of all the SHRIMP TRUCKS!

2. Lei Lei’s Bar & Grill

Important 2026 Update

The original Délice Crêpes location in Haleiwa has closed. They have relocated to a new crepes and coffee shop at the Polynesian Cultural Center in Laie. The Haleiwa location now operates as North Shore Crepes Cafe under different ownership, but that has also closed as of early 2026.

Dat Cajun Guy has permanently closed. The popular food truck turned brick-and-mortar restaurant in Haleiwa is no longer operating.

Mexican food truck – one of the best on the island happens to be on Haleiwa! Surf N Salsa is so worth the trip to the North Shore.

10. Lastly, Giovanni’s Shrimp Truck!!!

Saved the best for last – Giovanni’s shrimp truck! We’ve gone to Giovanni’s countless times and will continue to get their garlic shrimp. SO DELICIOUS! Now, this for sure is worth the drive to the North Shore.

2026 Updated Information

Most of these North Shore favorites are still going strong! Here are some key updates:

Still Open: Haleiwa Bowls, Lei Lei’s Bar and Grill (Turtle Bay), Seven Brothers (Kahuku), Kono’s, Uncle Bo’s, Haleiwa Joe’s, Surf N Salsa, and Giovanni’s Shrimp Truck are all still serving customers.

Permanently Closed: Dat Cajun Guy and Délice Crêpes (original Haleiwa location) have closed.

Giovanni’s Tip: Expect to pay around $17-18 per plate in 2026. Credit cards are accepted but carry a 7% convenience surcharge, so bring cash if possible.

Kono’s Expansion: Kono’s has expanded beyond North Shore with additional locations, including Kailua.

Seven Brothers: Now has multiple locations across Oahu and has expanded to the mainland.
