While enjoying our staycation at the Ilikai we decided to eat somewhere neither of us have eaten before. Using the Yelp app, we found a restaurant within walking distance (approximately 0.5 miles/ 800 meters, maybe even closer) from our hotel: Goofy.
Goofy is mostly organic and foremost local ingredient specific restaurant. They also cater to vegetarians and vegans.
The ambiance is very homey. Once walking in, you get the vibe that you are in your friends house with the best part being no one has to cook.
Goofy’s Green Veggie Juice | $6.50
It’s so fresh! I love that it has chia seeds on the bottom. It was served room temperature. If it was a bit colder, i’m sure it would’ve tasted even better!
Green Spaghetti | $14
Reid ordered this dish: Very pasty and takes a while to chew but overall, tasty!
Kahuku Corn Cream Penne | $13
I love corn and pasta so I definitely had to order this. Kahuku corn is known for it’s fresh and sweet taste. I’ve never tasted corn in a pasta before so this was something different. I absolutely loved every bite of it! I wish I had leftovers to take home but it was so delicious, I ate everything on the plate. Definitely try this dish if you are a corn and pasta lover like me.
For the portion sizes and tastes, it is a bit on the high end however, I believe the pro’s out way con’s here.
Pro’s: Healthy, local, great ambiance, great tasting healthy smoothies/drinks, good location (walking distance Ilikai and a few hotels)
Con’s: Not the most expensive place you’ll eat at in town but on the high end, food taste was mediocre.
Overall rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars
Although I’ve tasted better healthy dishes at other locations, I really appreciate the “local first and organic when possible” mantra Goofy stands by. That being said, we will be returning to try new dishes so our rating is open to change!
