Bogart’s Café New Dinner Service
Media were invited to sample a few dishes from the new dinner menu. This was my first time dining at Bogart’s Cafe and after tasting the dinner offerings, I am eager to go back with Reid to try out their breakfast food!
For dinner, we started off with their complimentary bread with a rosemary focaccia and cheese balls. The parmesan cheese balls is my favorite – if you’ve had Pão de Queijo (Brazilian Cheese Bread), it taste exactly like that!
Beet Carpaccio with hazelnut brittle, avocado, and mandarin orange – This was very nice and light! Beet is not my favorite but everything mixed together tasted great!
Seared Scallops with cauliflower puree, white truffle oil, and black tobiko – The cauliflower puree blew my mind! I love scallops and would definitely order this appetizer the next time we go back. The black tobiko adds a subtle salty taste to the dish.
Prawns in Calabrian Chili Sauce is prawns on a bed of polenta, spinach, and calabrian chili – I have not tasted polenta before, it is similar to porridge and surprisingly tasted incredible with the chili sauce and prawns. Also, the chili sauce is not spicy which is great for me since I am not into spicy food.
Cacio e Pepe is a Bogart’s exclusive with cheese from the Dolomite, and pepper – Maria (owner of Bogart’s Cafe) imports the cheese from Italy herself and brings it back to Hawaii. This is probably the best white sauce pasta I have ever had in my entire life! It’s creamy and very cheesy – magnificent dish!
Uni Tagliatelle with homemade pasta, sea urchin, tomatoes, and crab – This is a delicious pasta with a nice flavor from the uni.
Pork Chop with slow braised fennel, fennel fronds, and kalamata olive tapenade – This is one of the dishes from the entree, great portion and it is very flavorful with the olive tapenade.
Braised Veal Cheeks in a borderlaise sauce, mushrooms, and mashed potatoes – Wow! The veal was soft and easy to eat. I thought I was full but was able to devour this entire dish!
Last but not least, Dulce de Leche Lava Cake with decadent and delicious cake oozing with caramel – As a sweet tooth, I always save room for dessert. I am coming back to Bogart’s Cafe especially for this dessert – it is mouthwatering!
To complement the dishes, Bogart’s also offers a wine menu and their new signature cocktail, the Waikiki Sunrise prepared with champagne, gin, fresh lemon juice and saffron syrup.
Breakfast and lunch service will remain available from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., offering omelettes, eggs benedict, fried rice, loco moco, pancakes, waffles, coffee and cocktails. The café will remain open from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. to serve drinks and acai bowls. (Breakfast Menu | Lunch Menu)
