#REIDREADS posts are dedicated to books I’ve read via Kindle, physical copy or my personal favorite (because you can speed up the reading), Audible, in a no bullshit-cut-to-the-point (biased) review at the end of every month.
“THE BEST INVESTMENT YOU CAN EVER MAKE IS IN YOURSELF.”
– Ray Dalio
[ 16 hrs and 5 mins]
Ray Dalio is a billionaire investor and (at least from what I understood via his writing) spiritually ‘woke’. The start was great, the middle carried on a dry tone as it functioned as a guide to running your empire (many things I am unable to relate to at the moment but doesn’t take away from how great this book is). The ending carried of on a solid tone. Overall 7/10. My recommendation? If you 1) are a trader 2) want to run a business empire successfully.
– Barry Carter & Jared Tendler
[5 hrs and 45 mins]
Great brook for mental discipline. This book resonated with me even though I don’t play poker. The mental discipline and emotional stability needed to be successful in the professional poker world can be applied to trading as well which is why I had to pick this up! Great book of which is easy, quick, understandable even if you don’t know what poker is, and recommendable.
– Robert W. Firestone
[7 hrs 40 mins]
lol…he literally states “I was surprised when Dr. Firestone walked in the room at 6ft and handsome ” -chapter 12. Don’t recommend this book. Rather than giving life tips flat out, it is different stories that Dr. Firestone had therapy sessions with and maybe I missed a detail but it seems that almost all of their personal problems stemmed from sexual assault or rape or had sexual urges they couldn’t control. I respect the man’s profession and he has a published book but can’t say that I enjoyed this book.
– Don Miguel Ruiz
Absolutely amazing. This book deserves all the stars. 10/10 would recommend, In short:
- Be impeccable with your word.
- Don’t take anything personally.
- Don’t make assumptions.
- Always do your best.
The year is closing in fast! This month I completed 4 books with The Four Agreements being my favorite and placing itself in my top 10! It was so incredible. Other than that, The Mental Game of Poker was a close second as it was a fun read and provides valuable information in overcoming the inner voice when it comes to trading. Hope you enjoyed these reads! Let’s end this last month of 2018 strong and bring in the new year with an open mind! Thanks for reading.
